As Thanksgiving approaches, I wanted to take a moment to say how grateful I am for you! I just love having you as part of my circle and I truly appreciate your trust and support. Wishing you and your family a warm, joyful Thanksgiving holiday filled with delicious food, good company, and maybe a good prank. (who doesn’t need a good laugh right now)
Speaking of delicious food, I thought I’d share one of my favorite recipes to make for Thanksgiving morning Baked French Toast Casserole! It’s the perfect mix of cozy and sweet, and it’s always a hit.
My boys start circling the kitchen a little earlier when I make this and it’s SO EASY!! You can even prep it the night before!
Ingredients:
- 1 can (16.3 oz) Grands refrigerated biscuits (honestly though I love using cinnamon rolls)
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
For the Topping:
- ¼ cup (½ stick) salted butter, melted
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp corn syrup
- ½ cup chopped pecans
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions:
- Prep the Biscuits:
Cut each biscuit into 6 pieces and set aside.
- Mix It Up:
Whisk the egg in a large bowl until frothy. Then, whisk in the sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Finally, stir in the heavy cream and milk until everything’s well combined. Toss the chopped biscuits into this mixture, making sure they soak up all that goodness. Let them sit for 5 minutes.
- Get Ready to Bake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray the bottom of a 9″x13″ baking dish with nonstick spray (or line it with nonstick foil).
- Strain and Arrange:
Using a mesh strainer, remove the biscuit pieces from the cream mixture (you can toss the leftover liquid). It’s just like making regular French toast! Place the biscuits in an even layer in the baking dish.
- First Bake:
Cover the dish with foil and bake on the middle rack for 20 minutes.
- Make the Topping:
While that’s baking, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, pecans, and cinnamon in a bowl. This is going to take things to the next level!
- Add the Magic:
After 20 minutes, remove the casserole from the oven, uncover it, and spoon the topping all over the top. Pop it back in the oven, uncovered, for another 15 minutes.
- Serve It Up:
Once it’s golden and bubbly, pull it out and serve it immediately! It’s best when warm and straight from the oven, with a little fruit or syrup if you’re feeling fancy.
I hope you enjoy this dish as much as I do, and that your Thanksgiving is filled with so much love! If you ever need anything (real estate or otherwise!), I’m just a call or email away.
Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍁
