Hey there! Remember last month when I said I was in a reading rut? Well, I’m still in it. I haven’t read nearly as much lately! I want to read a book that I’m consumed by. If you’ve read one like that recently, please reach out and tell me about it! Here’s what’s been on our nightstands lately: 📖 This Month’s Reads:
I listened to this one for book club and loved it. If you ever read A Man Called Ove, this is the same author. He has such a wonderful way of describing things. He was also able to make a tough subject lighter somehow. I wish I would have actually read this book rather than listened (although the reader was really good!) because I do tend to drift off a little when listening to books. This one was 5/5 stars and our book club had some amazing discussions about this book.
I’ve seen a lot of people recommending this book but I did not enjoy it. I gave it 3/5 stars. I thought the main character rehearsed the same things over and over again throughout. I also thought the bride herself was extremely selfish and reacted in a way that almost no one would in certain scenarios. I was definitely disappointed by this one. “I’ve been slowly working my way through Dynamic Dallas: An Illustrated History, and I didn’t expect to get this pulled in—but the photos alone are worth it. There’s something really fascinating about seeing Dallas in its earliest days… before the skyline, before the sprawl, when it was just a hopeful little trading post figuring itself out. You can literally watch the city take shape—dirt roads turning into something more permanent, small buildings giving way to bigger ideas. It also makes you realize how much of Dallas today comes from those early decisions—railroads, location, and a kind of quiet confidence that the city was going to become something, even before it fully knew what that was. If you love history, architecture, or just understanding how a place becomes what it is, this one’s been such a fun read.” If you’re reading something you’ve loved lately, I’d genuinely love to hear about it—those are usually the best recommendations.
