If you’re looking for something fun (and very local) this weekend… this might be your plan.
Downtown Waxahachie is hosting its annual Cinco de Mayo Festival this Saturday, May 2 from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, and it’s one of those events you can easily spend a few hours at—or the whole day if you pace yourself right. 😅
Hosted by the Ellis County Hispanic Organization, this event brings together food, music, culture, and community right in the heart of Ellis County.
🌮 What You’ll Find
Live music + folklórico dancers
→ A mix of traditional and modern performances throughout the day
Food vendors (come hungry)
→ Think street tacos, churros, and authentic Mexican dishes
Artisan market
→ Handmade goods, artwork, and local vendors
Extras that make it fun to stay awhile
→ Car show, kids area with inflatables, and plenty to explore
Admission is free, and if you’re 21+, alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
💡 If You Go…
Go earlier in the day to walk everything, then stay (or come back) in the evening when the music and crowd energy really picks up.
It’s one of those events that reminds you why people love living here—there’s always something happening, and it actually feels like community.
If you end up going, I want to hear what you tried. 👀
(especially the food… for research purposes, obviously)

P.S. If you’re exploring Ellis County or thinking about making a move, events like this are a great way to get a feel for what everyday life looks like here. Happy to help if you’re starting that process. 💛
